Abstract: On the basis of epigraphic sources, an interdisciplinary study is made of private and public life in the Majorca of the Roman period, analyzing its economic and political systems, its society, the forms of cultural expression, religion and beliefs, geography and topography, the main historical events, archaeological sites, data of anthropological interest, and the linguistic situation. The starting-point is the following question: what data about Roman Majorca can be obtained from epigraphic sources? And also: how was Majorcan society organized in Roman times; which divinities were the objects of a cult; with which communities or peoples did the inhabitants have commercial relations; what funeral rites did they follow; what economic structure underlay Majorcan society; what language did they speak; and in accordance with what political system were they governed?
