Abstract: Obesity and overweight represent a major Public Health problem, with a great impact worldwide. Obesity can be defined as a chronic disease. In our country, the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands is among the communities with the highest prevalence of this pathology, however, its control does not represent one of the priority objectives in the field of primary care. On this basis, I have decided to develop this project with the objective of covering this deficiency. Objective. To improve the early diagnosis and approach of overweight and obesity, in the field of Primary Care after a scheduled training intervention programmed. Method. Training intervention aimed at health professionals in the Basic Health Zone, consisting of four 30-minute sessions during working hours to disseminate the intervention program and the knowledge necessary for its implementation. In the same way, another intervention will be planned for patients, preferably carried out as a group, offering a 6-month scheduled follow-up. Results. After the implementation of the program and in the course of it, several indicators will be measured, some related to health professionals and others to the target population. Health professionals will measure the increase in knowledge and skills in obesity diagnose, the record in clinical history and individualized plans of the intervention. Indicators of changes in lifestyle habits and weight loss will be measured in the target population. Conclusions. An adequate early assessment and individualized intervention in the Primary Care setting in overweight and obese patients can decrease the prevalence of this pathology and the associated comorbidities.
