Abstract: This Master's Thesis (TFM) deals mainly with the figure of the educational counselor and its impact within the ordinary functioning of secondary schools. From the different information collection instruments designed (interviews and questionnaires), it has been possible to extract very significant results in relation to the deployment of their functions and the training they receive throughout an academic year, which is one of the main aspects that could be improved due to the fact that many of the training courses they receive are more aimed at meeting the needs of teachers than those of educational counselors. In addition, it has also been observed that they have little impact on the totality of secondary school students, since their area of intervention is very limited due to the low number of guidance professionals in the current centers.
