Abstract: A case study has been carried out on the use and relevance of the research data in psychology within the University of Barcelona. A sample of 827 articles from the Scopus database has been selected; 32 out of this total3,87%- explicitely mentionned the publication of open research data. To analyze the possible impact of open data on the citations received by the articles, the citations related with the sample are reviewed and totalized, on Scopus as well as Google scholar. The result of the study do not seem to show a link between open research data and the number of citations published. It has been studied if the impact of the publication, measured in terms of Average Journal Impact Factor Percentile from Journal Citation reports actor, can influence the citations received by an articles and if the editorial policies development promoting the open data research publication has some effect on actual practices. It has also been measured the effectiveness of Scholix- an API of the Scholexplorer search engine-within Scopus to identify research data sets and It os compares with the search engine itself without noticing further improvements in the results.
