Abstract: Musictherapy (MT) is a growing field of intervention for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), given its positive results in communication and social interaction deficits. This paper aims, through a systematic review, to analyse the effectiveness of these interventions in the international context in the last ten years. Methodology: A literature search was carried out using the main databases and applying the PRISMA methodology, considering the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Eight of the 40 articles searched were selected. Results: In those interventions with the presence of music therapy, significant results were observed in many of the areas affected in children with ASD related to prosocial behaviour in relation to the control groups. In addition, it shows new brain connections in the subcortical and thalamus areas. Discussion: MT should be understood as a complementary intervention tool and new avenues of research should be encouraged by controlling variables such as the training of the music therapist and its variants. Even so, it is necessary to encourage research in this field in Spain.
