Abstract: | The Right to the City has been conceived as a fundamental right of the city’s inhabitants. But, whohas this right? From a research conducted in Manresa (Catalonia) and Ponta Grossa (Brasil), twomedium and nonmetropolitan cities, I analyze the spatial negotiations of young lesbians in theireveryday life. From an intersectional and emotional perspective I examine how their differentpositions condition and limit their access to the city. With this study I aim to show how the Right tothe City must be conceptualized, taking into account discriminations due to sexual orientation, theaffective dimension of inequality, the multiple oppressions that intersect and the (non)separation ofpublic and private spaces. |
