Abstract: Anxiety problems are the most common in children and adolescents. Traditionally these problems have been addressed through direct intervention on the child himself, however, in recent years, interventions focused on training parents are increasingly developing to offer them knowledge and skills that allow them to successfully confront their children's difficulties as well as prevent their appearance, but solid evidence of this effectiveness through systematic reviews is lacking. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of parent training programs in reducing anxiety measures or symptoms in the child population. A systematic review was carried out following PRISMA guidelines of empirical studies located in the following databases: Web of Science, Scopus, PsycArticles, PubMed and Google Scholar, including a total of 10 studies. The results showed the effectiveness of different parent training programs in reducing childhood anxiety symptoms. However, intervention programs, scope of application and methodological quality vary greatly between studies. More studies are necessary to compare the effectiveness of different parent training programs and to elucidate which aspects of them have the greatest impact on the observed improvements.
