Abstract: The news is the journalistic journalistic genre par excellence, which aims to respond to the public to a series of questions around current events. This paper focuses on the different ways in which journalistic language can answer the question "why?". Objectivity in journalistic praxis is related to an expression of the cause in a neutral way and in these pages a classification and an analysis of the different causal structures that can be found in different means of communication is made. This research work is delimited to properly causal constructions and is complemented by other structures that also establish a cause-effect or anterior-posterior time relationship such as illative constructions, subordinate clauses of relative and temporal expressions. The classification and analysis that is carried out has the objective of determining which are the causal elements that are used the journalistic writings to establish relations of cause and effect and what relations are established between the different constructions and other of the sentence to express the different types of cause in a neutral or impartial manner. In short, this paper aims to provide a small sample of the remarkable variety of structures that are used in journalistic writings to express different types of cause.
