Abstract: Lymphedema is a disease caused by the interruption of the lymphatic system, due to genetic, traumatic or cancer causes, which produces edema and accumulation of fibrous and adipose tissue as its symptoms evolve. For many years it has been a little studied disease due to the difficulty for its anatomical dissection and the ignorance of its importance at the immunological level. But now, due to the increase in the incidence of breast cancer and the presentation of lymphedema as a side effect of its treatment, it is becoming more relevant and important to reach a consensus on its management and new avenues of investigation are being opened in your treatment. The nutritional approach to reduce symptoms is also important, and for this reason it is essential to carry out a bibliographic review of the studies that up to now exist and to make some dietary guidelines from them. Due to the scarcity of literature that shows the nutritional influence in lymphedema, it is decided to use studies that describe the pathophysiology of the disease to make a nutritional proposal that will consist of a low-fat anti-inflammatory diet.
