Abstract: In this paper we are looking to deepen into the concept of anosognosia in patients with acquired brain damage, specifically for cranioencephalic traumatism. This is an alteration present in various diseas or disorders of neurological etiology. Articles and studies were searched in the spanish population, to be able to get to know more about the term anosogosia, conceptualizing it as a deficit and defining it as a factor of poor prognosis in the recovery and participation of the patient in the therapeutic process. The authors and theoretical models that attempted to provide an explanation to the phenomenon during the years of investigation are presented, then to talk about anosognosia in brain damage and the factors that can determine and maintain it. The various forms of evaluation and the most widely used instruments are presented to do so, following a few lines for the intervention in this alteration. The work can not be forgotten to expose the effects that the presence of anosognosia has in the family and the closest environment of the people affected. Finally, in the intervention proposal, the practical case will be presented, where the patient appears to have, after 15 years, alterations in the deficiency consciousness, the evaluation of their neuropsychological profile, the evaluation of the anosognosia with the participation of family members and professional carers, and a first approach to a possible intervention proposal for the case will be made, based on the results obtained.
