Author: Olmo González, Ainoa
Tutor: Panizo Alonso, Julio
Abstract: State Visits are not only a crucial diplomatic tool to reinforce the bilateral relation between two countries, but they also have a great communicative potential to show the alliance between the two States. Protocol and ceremonial are key to harmonize all the elements which participate in the organization and the conduct of State Visits and make them reach the foreseen diplomatic and communicative targets. In this paper, State Visits in Spain and in France are compared to find out if despite their cultural and historical differences both countries follow the same basic rules for their State Visits and use them for the same communicative and diplomatic purposes.
