Abstract: In this master's Thesis, I have research about the current situation in Spain regarding the regulations governing video surveillance and the impact of the RGPD on them, focusing on how this set of rules and laws affects the use of new facial recognition technologies together with video surveillance cameras and the impact that they have on privacy. For this, I have studied the recent historical context in the area of security and privacy, as well as the impact that the latest advances in technology has had on this issue. On the other hand, I have analysed the legislation in Spain on video surveillance in order to study the impact on security and privacy of the use of facial recognition along with video surveillance cameras, and the different solutions that various countries, including Spain, has given to this conflict.
