Abstract: It is a fact that the world in which we live has undergone a great change in recent years as a result of the emergence of new technologies. Nowadays, society is subject to constant changes which develop at a dizzying pace and affect all areas of our lives. One of the areas that has been deeply affected, and on which this research work is focused, is the field of work. The so-called Information and Communication Society (SIC) is closely related to the emergence of a new paradigm in terms of employment policies, which is a challenge for people who are looking for a place to work or who want to keep their current job. This implies that it has become necessary to take a new approach to job seeking, to acquire new skills in order to access and retain jobs, and that workers have been obliged to receive continuous training and retraining throughout their lives. Turning our backs on this new reality can have serious consequences, since unemployment is currently one of the major problems of our society, with associated problems such as social exclusion, precariousness and poverty, to which certain groups are particularly vulnerable and which contribute to the increase in the digital divide. This research focuses on how the needs of today's society have affected the concept of employability and what consequences these changes have for people who are unemployed or who want to continue developing their current work, as well as the effects of this situation for certain groups. The research presented below is framed within the qualitative and interpretative paradigm, which aims to respond to the hypotheses raised around which this research will revolve, in order to obtain a deeper knowledge and understanding of the changes mentioned and what needs to be responded to in the current context.
