| Abstract: | The arrival in Catalonia of a school-age immigrant population has posed a challenge for our education system. The response to this challenge, with the Welcome Classes, is analyzed in this document. Firstly, it explains the current situation of Catalan students and what previous actions for attending immigrants have been. Afterwards, the case of Canada is studied, and we then return to Catalonia and the specific case of a secondary school in the Vallès Occidental region. An evaluation is made of the first year of operation of the Welcome Classes and improvements are specified that can be made to optimize the resource. |
