Abstract:
E-democracy. The progressive decline in election participation seems to indicate how many citizens feel underrepresented by politicians and institutions. This lack of interest together with the increasing complexity of doing politics calls for changes in the organization of today's democracies. The Internet can be an extraordinary tool for expressing people's interests. This book describes the new demands on citizens' political participation and analyses various examples of the use of new technologies to make them a reality. They are the first demonstrations of what is already called e-democracy.
