Abstract: This project aims to set a scenario for the migration of an on-premise datacenter to the Microsoft cloud: Azure. The purpose behind that was to guide, explain and demonstrate the capabilities offered by a CSP (a Cloud Service Provider), such as Microsoft, and how we can leverage it to migrate all or part of our own services. To that regard, concepts such as cost modeling differences versus on-premise datacenter, elasticity capabilities, high availability and others are being presented. A methodology based on the analysis of the current characteristics of an organization is being presented to propose this migration scenario. This includes the different services that can be leveraged in the cloud and how to use them according to the business needs instead of defining a direct migration without assessing all the options available that could represent unforeseen challenges and unnecessary costs. To finalize, a plan for continuous improvement in different areas such as monitoring, optimization and security will be addressed. A variety of tools with great flexibility in implementation will be presented. This could become essential for control, management and security.
