Abstract: The Way of Saint James is the first European Cultural Itinerary and far exceeds the figure of 300,000 pilgrims per year, with the French Way being its greatest exponent and Unesco World Heritage since 1993. The imminent year 2021 will be Xacobeo year and there is a firm determination to turn the celebration into something extraordinary and unique. Using contrasted official figures, linear regression and polynomial trend line, a first estimate of the number of pilgrims expected in the next year will be offered. The phenomenon of the Way of Saint James will be placed on the world map, the analysis will focus on a specific supra-municipal area and an estimated exercise will be carried out for a given city council. Based on a complete Business Intelligence platform, key indicators of the effect of Xacobeo 2021 will be offered in the rural Galician municipalities through which the Way of Saint James runs, allowing adequate planning and decision-making by public officers. Finally, the great value of the Way for the territory and its population will be demonstrated, establishing its effect in the creation of new business opportunities and income growth, increased recreational and leisure activities, improved services and infrastructure, opportunities for exchange cultural and revitalization of traditions.
