Abstract: Various laws and international agreements recognize the active role that the media must play in the awareness and absence of revictimization in sexist violence. These points, to date, are not mandatory, but are in a framework of voluntary self-regulation. In order to know what role the media play in raising awareness of the victims, a qualitative research is conducted where women who have suffered from gender violence and sexual violence are interviewed. The conclusions show that in previous and current coverage the media did not contribute to a sensitization and forceful identification of cases of violence, although it varies depending on the isolation of the victim.
