Abstract: The art of storytelling is inherent in human culture. This art is fundamental for the creation of communities and for fostering a sense of belonging. The art of storytelling brings us together as people and allows us to communicate on many levels. This project explores the art of storytelling through the complete creation of a 3D animated short. 3D animation is born at the intersection between art and science and opens the door to us to create new worlds. The creative process has started from the idea of exploring the duality of frantic modern life and the instrinsec need to find calmness. Once the script was done, we went on to do the storyboard. From there, the 3D models were created, and the layout was done, all using Autodesk MAYA. Then, the main character was rigged and animated. We have also worked with dynamics and simulations such as nCloth or bifrost. Finally, the textures and lighting design have been done. The short has been rendered completely with Arnold renderer. During the post-production, we worked on the colour of the short and the final look & feel, as well as the sound design. This project encompasses multidisciplinary work at many levels from narrative or storytelling to various 3D techniques, and also includes project planning and monitoring techniques.
