Abstract: Childhood chronic malnutrition (CCM) is a serious public health problem present in low and middle-income countries. In 2019, 149 million children under five were affected by this disease in all over the world. It is defined as a linear growth failure, a result of an insufficient intake of energy and nutrients and/ or repeated infections, with severe consequences on children's health and their quality of life. In addition, it is one of the main causes of poverty in children, which is perpetuated in adulthood and in the following generations. The causes of CCM are multifactorial so it is required a multidisciplinary approach. In spite of this fact, nutrition education programs about children nutrition and feeding practices aimed at mothers of children with CCM, are an effective tool to reduce its rate. The purpose of this paper is a designing of a nutrition education program developed for mothers of children under the age of five with CCM and settled in rural areas of Janjanbureh (The Gambia). This program is intended to be useful in reducing the prevalence of CCM in the country, which is 24.6% state-wide and 35% along the area of the local government in Janjanbureh (The Gambia). Likewise, it is an opportunity to develop a research about the effectiveness of nutrition education components in order to end this problem. If the program results successful after it is carried out, this educational intervention would confirm the essential characteristics to be integrated into other nutritional education programs with the same aims.
