Abstract: Currently, the industry is implementing new technologies in processes digitalization. During the last years, chemical plants have been applying interconnected systems in order to exhaustively control key parameters such as productivity, safety and quality. Unfortunately, there are many processes where the control is still 100% manual, which means the operator reads physically the spectrum of machinery parameters in a subjective way. Therefore, the aim of the project is to apply a WSN system, which will allow a digitalization of these values. In the methodology, the design is posed in three very clear phases. The first is to design local devices located near the machine. These devices measure the variables and transmit them. The second phase is concerned with the design of the central device, which receives and processes data in order to store and display it on a screen. The last phase exhibits the manufacture of the prototype, using the design mentioned above. Once the design processes have been completed, the result can be defined as the digitalization and centralization all into a single device of the data captured by the sensors. Additionally, analyzing the data from this central device, through a screen, allows an easy access to these data generated. In light of above, the conclusion of the project is that ZigBee system perfectly fits for this application, allowing a large capacity of sensors connection, due to the 65.000 devices that accept their networks.
