Title: La judicialización de los derechos humanos, herramienta del movimiento LGBTIQ+ en Ecuador, como respuesta a la discriminación institucional
Author: Gavilanes Coronel, Italo Leonel
Tutor: Cruz Ángeles, Jonatán
Abstract: This work addresses the human rights situation of the LGBTIQ+ population in Ecuador, starting from the decriminalization of homosexuality and moving onto the rights later achieved by the social movement. In this sense, the role of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights as well as that of the Constitutional Court of Ecuador are made visible; these institutions, as administrators of justice and interpreters of rights, have recognized the violations committed by the State and likewise have demarcated the scope of the mentioned rights. Eventually, a new starting point is set as this population group faces various problems and challenges in their struggle to achieve formal and material equality.
