Abstract: In our country, the approach to the migratory phenomenon as an economic and security issue justifies the appearance of public policies that place migrants in an irregular situation, preventing access to certain rights. The Foreigners Internment Centers embody that hostility towards migrants who are awaiting the resolution of the deportation proceedings from the country with internment conditions that violate, in the XXI century, some of the most universal rights. However, looking up and addressing the phenomenon as a matter of rights, we verify that there are numerous alternatives to detention in a surprising diversity of countries that lead us to consider for Spain a new model that provides more dignified and durable solutions. This work aims to contribute to changing the perspective, moving from a securitization approach that justifies exclusion policies to a rights paradigm based on concrete and ambitious proposals that aspire to become a dignity horizon.
