Abstract: The current economic and social context of globalization processes experienced in the last decades has led to an increase regarding the integration of the markets, finding that one of the main responsible and participant agents in this situation would be the so-called transnational companies. A situation that has implicitly meant a substantial increase in competitive levels within the different sectors of the economy, and where the national companies have had to develop growth strategies based on internationalization in order to achieve the new thresholds of productivity necessary to compete with the economic agents on a global scale. Same way the family company founded in Barcelona, Grifols, S.A., as a result of the emergence of the European market at the end of the 20th century, started in the year 1988 the internationalization processes becoming worldwide some of the leading companies within the segment of blood products at the present time. Converting into the third company by market share after the year 2011 in a segment with some behaviors clearly oligopolistic, and where only four companies have about 70% of global sales that are made in this market. In such a way that the evolution and composition of the economic and financial structure of Grifols has suffered significant enough changes because of this fact, given that between 2012 and 2017 exercises the company has almost doubled its patrimonial and financial value through the takeover processes supported. Being the primary goal of this work to answer the key question: "the growth experienced during the last 6 exercises by Grifols, S.A. within the segment of blood products, has affected their economic and financial situation?". With this purpose this document collects an economic and financial analysis and a diagnosis of the company during this period, starting this process with the percentage analysis tools of the consolidated annual accounts, together with the calculation of the economic and financial returns, as well as those deriving from the liquidity ratios, debt and capital flow. Following that the work refers to the positioning of the group within the main market where it carries out its main activities, the segment of the blood products, at the same time that shows the behavior that it has suffered including a patrimonial and financial comparative study among the major competitors. In a way that develops an analysis of the internal and external factors of Grifols that are synthesized in a SWOT matrix and that lately allows developing the conclusions and future prospects of the group.
