Abstract: This paper consists in the performance and analysis of the reverse translation and subtitling process of a television show that discusses scientific topics in a rather accessible way. It consists on a discussion on schizophrenia between a psychiatrist, a patient's relative and a moderator. One of the main motivations behind this project is the prominent presence subtitles have in our daily lives today, and the fact that they may sometimes lack accuracy or recognition of the author's work. Through the completion of the whole process the intention is to reproduce and deal with the challenges and demands derived from each particular task, as well as to analyze them subsequently. Two parts can be distinguished in the present paper: practical and theoretical. The first one includes the viewing of the show, the selection of an extract to work with, its transcription, reverse translation and subtitling. The conceptual part is focused on building the theoretical framework for the main challenges expected to come across during the practical part, but also on delivering an analysis of the translation decisions made all throughout the text. Translating and adapting strategies are described in the analysis section based on existing literature in order to reach some conclusions, not only in this regard but also about reasserting the key role of those professionals who translate and subtitle most of the content we consume on a daily basis.
