Abstract: Augmented Reality is a technology that is increasingly present in people's daily lives. In fact, it is increasingly accessible through a Smartphone or a Tablet. Therefore, no extra devices are needed to enjoy its advantages. That is why this technology generates more and more economic return to companies that incorporate it in their processes. Due to the drop in sales in the food distribution sector in Spain, mainly due to online shopping, it is necessary to redesign the face-to-face purchasing process. To this end, it is essential to incorporate new technologies such as Augmented Reality, which promote innovation in the purchasing process and attract new users to supermarkets and stores. With the aim of redesigning shopping processes and bringing innovation to the food distribution sector, a User-Centered Design (UCD) process has been developed. This process has made it possible to gather the different needs, problems and demands of the users, in reference to the face-to-face purchasing process. The result of this UCD process has resulted in the design of a functional prototype called TiendeAR, an Augmented Reality shopping assistant for face-to-face environments and accessible through a Smartphone.
