Pull to publish: de l'escriptura digital amateur a l'èxit comercial

Abstract

Filing off the Serial numbers o pull to publish és el procés que experimenta una fanfiction, escriptura digital amateur basada en altres obres preexistents, quan passa a ser un llibre publicat amb l'objectiu de ser venut. Aquest procés té la conseqüència d'introduir uns nous actors dins del món editorial, que serà necessari conèixer en aquest moment de transformació. A través de la recerca bibliogràfica i l'anàlisi de tres estudis de cas un dels quals, l'editorial, serà analitzat a través d'una entrevista, en aquest treball s'estudiarà l'efecte del pull to publish en la comunitat fan original i la comunitat lectora posterior, el joc d'influències entorn el copyright i finalment la relació entre fanfictions i el món editorial; això serà exemplificat en l'estudi d'una plataforma de comercialització (Kindle worlds), una editorial (Omnific publishing) i una novel·la (After). L'objectiu d'aquesta recerca és abordar aquest tema tan rellevant per la indústria editorial actual, conèixer quin és l'estat actual d'aquest nou personatge, quines són les problemàtiques en les que està involucrat, quines conseqüències ha tingut i té actualment i especular sobre el seu futur dins la indústria editorial, així com descobrir quines idees noves aporta al panorama actual.

Filing off the Serial numbers o pull to publish es el proceso que experimenta una fanfiction, escritura digital amateur basada en otras obras preexistentes, cuando pasa a ser un libro publicado con el objetivo de ser vendido. Este proceso tiene la consecuencia de introducir unos nuevos actores dentro del mundo editorial, que será necesario conocer en este momento de transformación. A través de la investigación bibliográfica y el análisis de tres estudios de caso uno de los cuales, la editorial, será analizado a través de una entrevista, en este trabajo se estudiará el efecto del pull tono publish en la comunidad hacen original y la comunidad lectora posterior, el juego de influencias entorno el copyright y finalmente la relación entre fanfictions y el mundo editorial; esto será ejemplificado en el estudio de una plataforma de comercialización (Kindle worlds), una editorial (Omnific publishing) y una novela (After). El objetivo de esta investigación es abordar este tema tan relevante por la industria editorial actual, conocer cuál es el estado actual de este nuevo personaje, cuáles son las problemáticas en las que está involucrado, qué consecuencias ha tenido y tiene actualmente y especular sobre su futuro dentro de la industria editorial, así como descubrir qué ideas nuevas aporta al panorama actual.

Filing off the Serial numbers or pull to publish is the process that fanfiction, amateur digital writing based on other pre-existing works, undergoes when it becomes a published book with the aim of being sold. This process has the consequence of introducing new actors within the publishing world, which will be necessary to know at this moment of transformation. Through bibliographic research and the analysis of three case studies, one of which, publishing, will be analysed through an interview, this work will study the effect of the pull tone publish on the community that makes the original and the subsequent reading community, the play of influences around copyright and finally the relationship between fanfictions and the publishing world; this will be exemplified in the study of a marketing platform (Kindle worlds), a publishing house (Omnific publishing) and a novel (After). The aim of this research is to address this issue that is so relevant to the current publishing industry, to find out what the current status of this new character is, what problems it is involved in, what consequences it has had and currently has, and to speculate on its future within the publishing industry, as well as to discover what new ideas it brings to the current panorama.
