Abstract: The present work deals with intellectual development disorder (IDD) and autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in adults with complex behaviors. Both conditions imply cognitive and functional limitations that start in development and require more or less intense support throughout the life cycle, in addition to being frequently associated with other difficulties such as challenging behaviors (CB) or psychiatric disorders. The selected group of people has a mean age of 38 years and diagnoses of moderate IDD, ASD grade 2 or both, in addition to severe CB . In the neuropsychological evaluation carried out, memory and executive deficits were evidenced mainly, as well as psychiatric problems in half of the group. In all cases there is a deficit in adaptive skills and behaviors that limit participation and social inclusion. The proposed neuropsychological intervention includes weekly group and individual sessions as well as sessions with support professionals over 7 months with the aim to optimize and / or compensate altered cognitive functions, reduce the severity and frequency of CB and eliminate the psychiatric symptomatology present in two people. The proposed intervention includes: cognitive stimulation and compensation of deficits, strategies based on positive behavioral support (PBS) and TEACCH methodology, training of the support team and cognitive-behavioral therapy (in two cases). The expected results are an improvement at a cognitive, behavioral and emotional level with a prepared and facilitating environment that will have an impact on greater autonomy, well-being in daily life and social participation.
