Abstract: Mercè Company has a long, varied and original career as an author of children's and young people's literature, which mostly takes place during the eighties of the 20th century with a good reception from the public and obtaining several recognitions. This work shows the Company's contribution to literature, on the one hand, through a historiographical study of the author and, on the other, through a literary analysis focused on the titles that are inscribed in critical realism, a current of which she is considered representative. In the works analyzed, Company makes visible social conflicts without sweetening reality and avoiding giving a moral conclusion, so that the reader acquires awareness and can reflect.
