Title: Mestís i rebel. Àngel Guimerà: un model de lluita per la llengua catalana
Author: Casadevall Camps, Jordi
Tutor: Figueras Capdevila, Narcís
Others: Climent Martínez, Josep Daniel
Abstract: The work aims to deepen the contribution of Àngel Guimerà in the normalization and dignification of the Catalan language, determined by the writer's crossbreeding and characterized by an attitude of determination and rebellion. In the first part it is analyzed the language from a more personal side, his status as a Spanish speaker, discovery and learning oral and written Catalan in Catalonia after arriving from his native Tenerife, the survival of Spanish for a time and its process of change and adaptation to Catalan (parallel to the adoption of Catalanism). It also addresses the model of language that he adopted literary, anachronistic and archaic, which evolved in a very limited way.
