Abstract: Cognitive deficits are an important part of the symptoms of schizophrenia. The alterations described mainly affect the domains of attention, processing speed, working memory, verbal and visual learning ability, reasoning, and problem solving (Crespo-Facorro et al. 2017). Cognitive impairments have been considered one of the best indicators of functional prognosis in schizophrenia (Ojeda et al., 2019). The benefits of cognitive rehabilitation in the cognition and functionality of people with schizophrenia have been strongly demonstrated, producing benefits both in the advanced stages of the disease and in the early stages (Deste et al., 2019). This work will analyze the case of a person diagnosed with schizophrenia who is receiving treatment at a Community Mental Health Rehabilitation Service. This is a 45-year-old woman with good premorbid fit but significant functional limitations. A neuropsychological assessment is performed which aims to alter the domains of attention, processing speed, deferred memory, working memory and executive functions. A neurocognitive rehabilitation treatment is proposed with the aim of reducing the impact of cognitive deficits, so as to improve autonomy and personal functioning in ADLs. An 8-week treatment is proposed, with three weekly sessions of 60 minutes. Psychoeducational interventions, cognitive stimulation, compensatory and deficit restoration strategies, as well as family psychoeducational intervention will be used. An emotional, cognitive, and behavioral improvement is expected that reduces the person's functional limitations, increasing their autonomy.
