Abstract: Dysphonia is the alteration of one or more of the considered parameters of normality of the voice: timbre, tone, intensity and flexibility. Specifically, functional dysphonia is one that causes the alteration of these parameters but does not have an organic or neurological reason. It is the result of vocal abuse or misuse in most cases of professional voice, although it can also be a consequence of the appearance of reflux, smoking, or viral or bacterial infection. The presence of functional dysphonia can cause poor communication on the part of the people in whom it manifests itself and, moreover, it is usually a predecessor of more serious vocal injuries if it is not intervened in time and in an adequate way with the necessary treatments. The non-recognition of functional dysphonia as an occupational disease puts in check many professionals who manifest it as the result of an impediment to the development of their profession and their vocal activity. For its prevention, the guide prepared contains some vocal hygiene guidelines, but the research work has consisted of collecting and classifying those means of diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of functional dysphonia in voice professionals in order to contribute to the vocal rehabilitator and speech therapist the most relevant tools and therapies used for the correct evaluation and intervention of this pathology.
