Abstract: Leisure education is a field of intervention that has a large presence and activity in Catalonia (Albareda et.al., 2020). Until the 1980s, leisure activities were promoted by entities, linked to recreation or scouting, and were developed in moments of leisure and free time (Ruiz de Gauna, 2012). Despite continuing to be an activity characterized by a strong volunteerism, it has been found necessary to move towards an intervention based on pedagogical and methodological rigor (Reig, 2012) through training spaces that guarantee professionalism. The present research approaches an association to analyze the feasibility of change as a leisure entity that is looking for organizational and pedagogical improvement, after undergoing rapid growth without previously established organizational and pedagogical frameworks. To make this possible, the following specific objectives are defined; to verify the need of the coordination team to have organizational and pedagogical references to guide their practice, to know the level of involvement of the coordination team to build a pedagogical and organizational framework in a participatory way, and to measure the degree of resistance to change by the coordination team in relation to the functioning of the entity. In this way, the study provides the experience of a leisure organization that, like many others, has transitioned from volunteering to the professionalization of the sector without reference frameworks, and how viable change is in this context. Even so, the study evidences the need to count on psycho-pedagogical professionals, from a participative model of accompaniment oriented to the empowerment of the people being accompanied, in order to make changes and improvements possible.
