Title: Transculturació i mite en l'obra de Ferran de Pol
Author: Martí Montmany, Estel
Tutor: Masgrau Juanola, Mariona
Abstract: Ferran de Pol's work is extensive and multifaceted, ranging from journalistic chronicles to narrative style. In his narrative side, Ferran de Pol wrote three novels: Antes del amanecer (1954), Éramos cuatro (1960) and Espejos turbios (1966). All three have a mythological background, although only the first two are paradigmatic of the relationship that will be established between the Arenyenc author and the interest in the discovery of the Mayan Chitxé culture and mythology during his exile in Mexico (1939-1948). In this work we will analyze Antes del amanecer which, together with other stories by the author published in the magazines Tretzevents and Caballo Fort, constitutes a true bridge between cultures that brings Central American culture closer to Catalan children and young people. Despite its interest, this work seems to have fallen into editorial oblivion, despite having been in the seventies of the twentieth century, one of the most used books for learning Catalan. The aim of this study is to review the work of Ferran de Pol and vindicate it as reading for children and young people in our country and as a learning tool for its transcultural background.
