Abstract: In recent years, media consumption by young people has raised the concern of experts, who consider that they do not have sufficient media skills to deal critically with media content. In this context, various researchers and international organizations have been calling for years for policies aimed at promoting the presence of media and information literacy in schools and providing students with the necessary media skills. However, it is worth asking to what extent these demands are materializing in school curricula. This paper analyzes the experiences of high school teachers in Andalusia, in order to know their perception of media and information literacy. The results show that teachers show interest in media education and work on current affairs in their classes through the consumption of news. However, they do not have sufficient training in the subject and their involvement in the topic arises from their own interest and choice. Likewise, for the teachers, the students have evident deficiencies that make it difficult for them to inform themselves correctly. The results obtained and the analysis carried out become a starting point to continue the line of the project and expand the study.
