Abstract: Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) is a rheumatic disease which causes pain and can lead to physical and psychosocial difficulties. Fourteen adolescents with JIA were interviewed and a focus group was conducted, in which another seven adolescents with JIA took part. Their relationships with friends (challenges and coping mechanisms) were analyzed. Based on these results, an online psychoeducational resource ¿ AIJTeens ¿ was designed and created via Instagram and WhatsApp to provide information and strategies to help teenagers with JIA manage their pain and their relationships with friends, and to give them the opportunity to interact with other people with JIA through a mentoring process. Thirty-two adolescents with JIA and twelve mentors used the resource for six weeks. AIJTeens was perceived as very useful, and the results showed a medium-high acceptance rate and high overall perceived satisfaction. The preliminary effect showed no significant results for the studied variables.
