Title: Diseño de una estación terrestre para la recepción de datos de satélite con dispositivo RTL-SDR
Author: Duque Valdivieso, Javier
Tutor: Monzon Baeza, Victor
Abstract: In the last few years, glad to computer programming and electronic´s development, the new concept of 'Software Defined Radio' (SDR) has appeared. SDR devices are radio communication equipment that has approached the hardware and software areas between them, reducing the cost while transmitting and receiving signals. With an SDR device, it is possible to configure by using software, all the digital signal processing techniques such as modulation, filtering, and equalization' reducing with it the installation and maintenance of device software costs. This work pretends to replicate the SDR device techniques to create a simplified ground station to monitor the signal from a commercial satellite (Deimos-1) using a low-cost SDR device. This design will be tested in a natural environment to receive data from Deimos1 Satellite, during the satellite visibility period, in order to try the system viability. Once the System design was finished, it will conclude and summarize about costs of using Software Defined Radio. On the other hand, it will propose other improvements to the system design.
