Author: Chaparro Aljure, Elsa Carolina
Tutor: Cerdan, Agustí
Abstract: The complexity introduced by technological advances and globalization in recent decades have highlighted the need for flexible, creative and innovative organizations that promote the exchange of knowledge, capable of quickly adapting and meeting the demands of the environment. In this sense, communities of practice are presented as an opportunity to boost institutional management in universities thanks to their potential to improve processes and solve problems based on interaction and knowledge exchange. Likewise, they can generate the appropriate conditions to promote the significant use of ICTs in distance academic and administrative processes that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, have been rapidly incorporated into education and in many cases by force. The purpose of this Master¿s dissertation is to carry out a critical reflection and identification of key elements to take into account for the construction and consolidation of communities of practice in higher education institutions, from an institutional perspective and seeking to identify the role of management in the creation and their consolidation. Consequently, this work constitutes a reference that sheds light to recognize the existence of communities of practice in the university environment, as well as to know what elements must be taken into account for their construction and consolidation.
