Abstract: The work aims to study the semantic properties of a group of Catalan verbs of movement and their arguments. The information on the type of complement needed by each verb is important to know the syntactic structure of the sentence and provide practical solutions in Natural Language Processing. The analysis will be focused on the verbs conduir (drive), navegar (sail) and volar (fly), based on the meanings described in the Diccionari d'ús dels verbs catalans (DUVC) and their selection restrictions. We will check, analysing a hundred sentences from El Corpus d'Ús del Català a la Web de la Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the Corpus Textual Informatitzat de la Llengua Catalana de l'Institut d'Estudis Catalans, if the language only uses the meanings of this verbs described in the DUVC and we will identify the most common uses. Finally, we will describe the names used as the head of the argument in terms of semantic features.
