Abstract: Online methods of dispute management and resolution are at a turning point because certain obstacles impede, de facto, their full integration into the legal system. Lack of technical and legal interoperability, uncertainty about the value of the results obtained and the proliferation of methods, rules and heterogeneous, sometimes contradictory, regulations do not bring its consolidation any nearer. For this reason we are beginning to appreciate the need to systematize certain ODR recognised standards and principles and identify models, to further the compatibility of procedures, with particular emphasis on those that affect the consumer. By their nature, model laws and legislative guides can be powerful instruments for the progressive harmonisation of practices and legislation, something that can only be carried out under the auspices of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), an institution with great prestige and a long tradition in the development of such instruments.
