Abstract: TV Trash, translated in catalan as infratelevisió, is a phenomenon that comes to Spain in the early 90s of last century, with the advent of private channels. The contents considered junk television are often delimited by subjective issues. This has generated around TV Trash a debate that lasted more than 25 years. This work seeks to define these contents by analyzing the reference literature and the opinion of the experts on the current television scenario. Upgrading the debate with the confrontation of the different postures of the discussion will reveal contradictions in certain areas, such as consideration of infratelevisió as a genre, despite the lack of conventions, or the influence of the media on society despite TV is often considered a reflection of it.
