Abstract: The maternal prenatal stress has been frequently associated with child physical development and health, as well as psychological functioning and behaviour. However, the original mechanisms underlying relationships remain elusive. In this project we review the literature and studies that research and support the hypothesis that there are links, and new evidences suggesting a possible mechanism of relationship, between maternal prenatal stress and babies development, focusing on the infant intestinal microbiota and health, besides being a potential for bacterial interventions to improve the health and development of the offspring in pregnant women with stress.
