Abstract: Machine translation results have improved remarkably since its origins in the fifties of the XXth century until recent days, but this technology still requires the intervention of human beings in order to produce quality translations. Therefore, a new task has arisen in professional translation: post-edition, that is, editing the text generated by the machine translation engines. This Master's Thesis aims to analyze post-edition from two different points of view: firstly, as a professional activity, studying how it is used by the translation industry and how it is perceived by the own translation professionals; and secondly, as a process, comparing it with human translation.
