Abstract: Photovoltaic energy could become one of the most important emerging energy resources in the world. However, its higher production cost is one of the main drawbacks that make it difficult to be competitive as an energy source over conventional electricity generation systems. Development strategies of this technology are mainly oriented towards reducing the cost of photovoltaic cells and increasing energy efficiency in the production facilities. This paper presents a prototype of solar tracker, a mechanism based on two axes, which maximizes photovoltaic energy production.
