Abstract: Today there are a great number of standards that put forward criteria and guidelines in order that this software production reaches a useful quality standard, so that, in general, it results in achieving a good product, from which the final user will benefit from daily. One of the best known standards in every field, not exclusively in the world of computer science, with very demanding criteria and application procedures, and with the highest reputation, is the ISO standard. Our aim is to analyse this ISO standard, examining how it works in every stage of software development, as well as strengths and weaknesses. According to the results obtained, we will decide what can be implemented, modified and/or omitted, in order to make the ISO standard an infallible powerful tool for the high-quality software developments.
