Abstract: In this work we carry out three objectives, firstly to clarify all the unknowns, both terminology and concepts, which can have a person who wants to work with the operating system Linux, secondly, a comparison of various distributions existing GNU / Linux that serves to evaluate what is best for the interests of everyone, and finally a series of tests on different distributions to determine the most efficient in the aspects to be addressed. The comparative study therefore will be based on different distributions of GNU / Linux Live CD in their formats and their 64-bit version, since the operating system that will remove the latest generation of computers. For the comparative study, we have chosen the following Linux distributions: Debian, Fedora, OpenSUSE and Ubuntu.
