Abstract: The aim of this paper is to review the theoretical background of the Emotional Contagion construct within last 10 years. In this research, I analyze 33 studies: 22 conducted in human; 5 in mammals; 3 in human and animal interaction and 3 in internet users. All studies show that Emotional Contagion does exist, and it can be measured. Furthermore, this paper analyzes the importance that basic emotions (joy, Love, sadness, anger, and fear) and bounding deserve in Emotional Contagion expression. It also examines the interpersonal variability and its individual traït. Finally, this review reflects on the importance that Emotional Contagion has in human social relationships and in interspecies, with our insight in a biopsychosocial perspective.
