| Abstract: | The phenomenon of new religions emphasizes the importance of the body and the emotions as elements of subjectivity. This paper studies the process of building spiritual identity through the incorporation of new values and beliefs, and the embodiment of the rituals. It is part of an ethnographic approach, through a fieldwork in a group of Oriental orientation. From participant observation and conducted interviews, we try to assess how spirituality is forged. With regard to bodily experience, it states the relevance of emotions in the processes of interaction and socialization of the individual in a given group. |
