Abstract: As in other periods of history, the artists of the last fifty years have tended to work and experiment with the technologies of their times. In this case, digital information and communication technologies (ICTs). However, unlike other more stable technologies, nowadays technologies undergo from rapid turnover which makes our productions impossible to re-visit within a very short time. Even film or photography, despite the significant challenge of preservation, have shown superior strength to productions of the era of the media. Whereas the loss of an entire generation of technologic productions to the detriment of our artistic heritage and our cultural memory, this paper proposes a tour to demonstrate its fragility and also to present the proposals that have emerged for their preservation, documentation and archiving in the context of digital culture and network society.
