Abstract: In this work, it is evaluated how is trained the autonomy of the youngsters living in a CRAE (residential center), which they must leave when coming of age. These are young people who, at the age of 18, are generally forced to emancipate and live independently, which means that it is important to provide them with the maximum capabilities so they can face the adulthood with the maximum possible guarantees. A qualitative study has been carried out based on the bibliographic analysis and the realization of semi-structured interviews. To carry out the assessment, the study is focused on a CRAE and an Assisted Floor. The study results show the importance of working the aspects related to the youngster's autonomy process, such as a healthy relationship between the young people and their families wherever possible, start working their autonomy in advance, empower them with the capacity to analyze situations and take decisions, make them aware of the aids and resources that they can have access and make them set goals in order to make them fight to move forward. Despite this, throughout the study it has also been noted that the center's routine, the regulation and the current laws limit some of the tasks that can be done to promote the autonomy of the young people. This fact makes more obvious the necessity of providing them with the necessary capabilities so that they can solve the problems that arise on their own in order to face their own vital project with autonomy.
